History Class Engages in Philanthropy at Ronald McDonald House

In February, students delivered a donation of $200.00 to the Ronald McDonald House in New York City.

“It felt really good to make a donation to support this charity and I hope to be involved with this organization in the future."
- Victoria (senior)

Students also delivered 70 handmade Valentine’s Day cards to children with cancer. The visit and tour of Ronald McDonald House was organized by teacher Ms. Amy Shalita as part of her History-Contemporary Issues course. The money that was donated to the Ronald McDonald House was raised from proceeds of bake sales and pizza lunches at the school.

“I was impressed with Ronald McDonald House’s mission. It was interesting to learn that the largest House is right here on the Upper East Side in Manhattan.”
wrote Victoria in her student reflection following the visit.

Ms. Helen Strafford, Volunteer Coordinator at Ronald McDonald House, was impressed with the students' display of compassion and dedication to this cause.
