A Successful Soccer Season
The Robert Louis Stevenson soccer team enjoyed a successful fall season, finishing with four wins and one loss before falling in the Metro League semifinal to Hallen School in a match at Van Cortlandt Park. RLS finished the regular season in second place on the strength of three lopsided victories.
Justin and Nelson tallied five goals apiece to lead the team. Owen and Will marshalled the offense and defense in their senior seasons. Daniel and Sam worked well in the midfield. Nate, V'Shon, Chris, and Henry comprised a stout defensive backfield. Jake was the team's only goalkeeper and he provided a stabilizing presence to go along with booming punts.
Coached by Athletics Director Nick Alexandrakos with assistance from Writing Teacher Jake Appleman, RLS outscored their opponents 19-8 on the season.
