Stevenson's History Conference
This year’s History Conference, led by History Teacher Jacob Friedman, began with students voting to select a word about which to write a paper. Between democracy, liberation, health, and environment, students voted for health. Students then wrote papers about various intersections of health and history, including Buddhism and DBT, Intergenerational Trauma: Slavery and its continuing impact on African Americans in the United States, Mental Illness in Indigenous Communities, Nutrition in Ancient Greece and New York City, and more.
Four classes— two sections of US History 2 and two sections of Global History 1— all gathered to present their papers and participate in panel discussions on the various topics.
