Stevenson Student's Story Has International Reach

Stevenson student Naomi received several much-deserved accolades on an essay she wrote about her experience with depression. After being initially published by UNICEF, she was officially selected by the United Nations as a UN Advocate for Girls with Disabilities, and was one of a limited number invited to complete a closed UN survey on this subject. The survey was designed to help UN officials understand more about how agencies and governments can support girls with disabilities. Naomi received a UNICEF Certificate of Participation for completing it. Furthermore, her essay was reprinted as part of the UN’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and again in modified form as part of DBSA’s World Teen Mental Wellness Day.
