On May 26th the Stevenson Spring Lecture Series offered A Parent’s Guide to School Avoidance: How to help your child become more engaged with school by Melissa Jeffay and Dr. Kim Nguyen. They covered common issues students experience related to the pandemic, a behavioral conceptualization of why school avoidance makes sense, the impacts school avoidance has on parents, interventions that are within parent control, and when to seek help from school staff and outside treatment providers.

In Memoriam: Lucille Rhodes
It is with a heavy heart that I inform everyone of the passing of Lucille Rhodes, a key figure in The Robert Louis Stevenson School's history. Lucille passed away peacefully at her home on Riverside Drive on Thursday, March 18 at the age of 99.

Stevenson's position as a thought leader in the field of mental health and expertise in providing integrated therapeutic support has extended its reach in the New York City area and beyond. In partnership with Cognitive and Behavioral Consultants, LLP (CBC) and its Co-Founder and Clinical Director, Dr. Alec L. Miller, Stevenson organized and led a 50-person master class for NYC Family and Civil Court judges.

Stevenson Students Discuss Economics With Top Minds
During Economics & Investing class, Stevenson students participated in a tutorial with a special visitor, Dr. Robert Z. Lawrence. He is the Albert L. Williams Professor of International Trade and Investment at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, a Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research.

Stevenson Alum Featured in International Film Festival
During the 2019-2020 school year, Stevenson's Apprenticeship Program helped then-senior Alex take an experience watching a documentary with his father and transform it into a film project of his own: a ten-minute movie, Cultivate, which was accepted into multiple film festivals, including The Big Apple Film Festival, The Lift Off Film Festival, and the All American High School Film Festival.

Civil Rights Activist Ruby Bridges Delivers Stevenson Graduation Address
You know her. Ruby was the brave six-year-old who climbed the steps of the William Frantz Elementary School in November 1960 and broke the southern school segregation barrier by becoming the first African American to attend the all-white school.
